Granted, bugs and exploits have had a SERIOUS impact on the balance of power within New World.Īt best, the current state of the faction system leads to a near, or even total monopoly for the dominant faction. This isn’t a healthy way to run the faction system, in my opinion. There is absolutely no incentive to join any particular faction, aside from who is on top, at any given time. New players will come into the game, take one look at the map, and usually decide to throw in with the winning faction. I saw the purple wave forming in the beta, and watched as it grew exponentially after launch. I shouldn’t have to explain how bad this is for an MMO with a focus on Open World PvP, but it seems that nothing is really being done about it. The steam numbers paint a very unhealthy picture, and we’ve all seen the runaway train that is the Syndicate, on most worlds. The faction system of New World is a great idea, but has had a very rocky implementation, to say the least. The in-game economy is an utter disaster. The game rewards Grinding, not skill and creativity.

Here are, by my own account, the main issues that I have come across while playing New World. For my own sake, and to attempt to keep this as clear and concise as possible, I’m going to try to focus on the broad strokes, for the time being. My main issues, so far, stem from a few broader issues, which encompass a multitude of smaller issues. For that reason, I’m going to shy away from talking about them and adding my own to the cacophony of voices, angrily chastising AGS for their issues. The Technical Issues, Bugs, and Exploits are all well-known and are an extremely hot topic of conversation. Unfortunately, that hopeful, bright-eyed optimism has quickly diminished due to the game’s various technical issues, bugs, exploits, and even the very mechanics of the game itself. A place for a truly fresh start, for an MMO player. New World was a beautiful new landscape full of potential and possibility. Since having a falling out with my last MMO, Eve Online, I was looking for a fresh start, and my hopeful optimism for New World was at a height that I hadn’t experienced since the announcement of Fallout 4. And though I will sound frustrated and salty, please don’t take this as anything but a well-meaning criticism from somebody who truly wants to see the game succeed.Įver since I first played the open Beta, I have been absolutely in love with New World. I’m simply here to relay my own thoughts and experiences with the game, up to this point. I’m not here to state that everything I think or experience is law or 100% correct.
I would like to start out by stating that this is specifically my experience with New World.
